Blue's Journey

10 Feb 2025

Alaskan Malamute, Blue, arrived at Battersea when his previous owners realised they couldn't give him what he needed to thrive.

Blue was an excitable, strong, adolescent dog with complex behavioural training needs. He would playfully steal objects or nip at people’s arms for attention.

Battersea’s skilled behavioural team knew that Blue would need extensive training to set him up for lasting success in a new home. His tailored training plan involved keeping him physically and mentally engaged by playing with other dogs in our paddocks and redirecting his energy to toys or snuffle mats.

Fostering gives you the chance to care for one of our animals in our care and have a comfortable environment to thrive in before they find their forever homes.

After two and a half months of training, with a lot of support and commitment from our dedicated Canine Behaviour and Training team, Blue was finally ready to find a loving new home. He needed an experienced home, with a patient owner who was used to his breed and committed to his long-term training.

Thanks to our supporters, Blue found all this and more with Damian, a devoted Malamute and Husky owner. With the continued support of Battersea’s behavioural team, Blue quickly settled in and is now living a wonderful life, even exploring the snowy mountains of Scandinavia, a true Malamute dream.
