Working with other rescues

How we help dogs and cats everywhere

While we'll always focus on caring for animals at our three centres, helping animals beyond of our gates is an important part of our mission to be here for every dog and cat. Battersea was founded over 160 years ago, and in that time we've learnt a lot. Now, we want to do more for animals by sharing our knowledge, expertise and resources through our Academy programmes, our grants, and our animal partnerships.

Battersea Academy

At Battersea, we believe we can achieve more together than we can alone. That's why we created Battersea Academy, a place where rescues and animal welfare individuals have a space to collaborate in person and online.

Grants

Our Grants and Programmes team offers strategic funding and support opportunities to organisations within the animal welfare sector, to advance change, through empowering local partners, so that more dogs and cats can have a better future.

Jai Dog

We've partnered with Thai street dog charity Jai Dog Rescue for an ambitious five-year project, working to transform the lives of street dogs in central Thailand. There are an estimated 6 to 10 million stray or semi-roaming dogs in Thailand, many suffering a lifetime of hunger and neglect, and until now, resource to combat the issue has been scarce.

Animal Partnerships

The Animal Partnerships team also works with dogs and cats that we feel would be best suited to a working or rural home. Watch the videos below from our ‘What They Did Next’ series to learn about the unique lives of some of our former residents.
