Shy Earth arrived at Battersea as an underweight stray, after being found by a concerned member of the public.
Battersea vets quickly noticed that Earth was not using one of her front legs properly. They suspected she may have had an old injury that had not healed correctly, or that the young cat had been born with a limb deformity.
Initially, Earth found the Cattery environment very overwhelming and interactions with people would make her nervous. Our Feline Welfare team gave Earth a dedicated care plan, which helped to calm her nerves. She eventually started to show her sociable and affectionate personality, purring beside her favourite people when they would give her attention.
As soon as Earth was feeling braver, our skilled Clinic team were able to explore treatment options for her leg, as it was clear this was causing her discomfort. X-rays revealed a missing bone, so Battersea vets decided that removing her leg would be the best course of action to improve Earth’s quality of life.
Brave Earth had a successful surgery and was quick to adjust to life on three legs. Thanks to our supporters, it wasn’t long before we found her a wonderful, quiet home, perfectly suited to her sensitive personality.
