Battersea Dogs and Cats Kick off a Month of Celebrating Rescue With Their Very Own Party

03 Sep 2024

Rescue dogs and cats at leading animal welfare charity, Battersea, have kickstarted their own celebrations to show their support for Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue this September.

Canine and feline residents in the charity’s care had their very own parties at Battersea’s Old Windsor centre, adorned with blue-themed decorations and toys to mark a fun-filled month of championing rescue. Throughout the day, the animals enjoyed plenty of games with blue paddling pools, toys and games, extra special treats and lots of fuss from the charity’s dedicated staff, all in the name of rescue.

Marvin, a loveable three-year-old Lurcher, was among the dogs enjoying the festivities and is looking for a home to call his own after spending more than 170 days in Battersea’s care. As dogs primarily see in blue, the party was all the more special for Marvin and his canine friends, and he especially loved running around the garden with his fellow Lurcher friend Apple and playing games together with their new toys.

A sweet Domestic Shorthair cat called York also enjoyed taking part in the day’s events, with her cat cabin having a special blue makeover and being treated to some special blue toys and blue knitted blankets to snuggle up on, which were donated by generous supporters of the much-loved charity.

Zenya Green, Team Leader at Battersea, said: “Here at Battersea we believe rescue is best, and what better way to kick off a whole month of celebrating rescue than with a party for the animals in our care who are waiting for their new homes. Battersea’s Wear Blue for Rescue is all about showing our love for rescue animals everywhere, and we hope that animals and humans alike will celebrate rescue in their own way, whether that’s by having a party of their own or by taking part in a Battersea led event like our walking challenge, Walk for Rescue, to support the animals in our care. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings!”

This September, Battersea is celebrating ‘Wear Blue for Rescue’, a chance to show love for rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life, both here in the UK and around the world.
