Curious cat who loves to play fetch searches for loving home after waiting more than 200 days

Marvellous Maisie is on the lookout for a home to call her own after spending over 200 days in the care of leading animal welfare charity, Battersea.

The sweet seven-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat was brought to Battersea’s Old Windsor centre in February due to a change in her owner’s circumstances and has been waiting ever since to find her perfect match.

On arrival, Maisie was quite shy around people, preferring to hide away and keep to herself. To help her gain confidence, Maisie was looked after by one of the charity’s dedicated Foster Carers in their home, where she could settle at her own pace in a calm, relaxed environment.

Once Maisie got to know her Foster Carer and spent some time settling into her surroundings, she slowly began to let her true personality shine. Despite being a middle-aged cat, she proved to be a kitten at heart who loved nothing more than playtime and became particularly fond of her beloved blue ball, dropping it at her Foster Carer’s feet for a game of fetch. Once worn out from playing plenty of games, Maisie can be found curled up in a sunny, cosy spot for a well-earned snooze.

Genevieve Gossage, Feline Behaviour and Training Advisor at Battersea, said: “After arriving at Battersea as a timid cat that shied away from attention, Maisie has made great progress during her time with us and will make a wonderful pet for a loving family. Despite being in our care for almost eight times the average stay of a Battersea cat, Maisie never lets her spirit falter and is always happy to receive a gentle fuss and play. This month we are celebrating rescue dogs and cats like Maisie through Wear Blue for Rescue, so it would be even more special if she found a home this September!”

Maisie is looking for patient and understanding owners who will allow her to settle at her own pace. As a curious cat who loves to explore the outdoors, Maisie would love a new home with a garden where she can come and go as she pleases.

This September, Battersea is celebrating ‘Wear Blue for Rescue’, a chance to show love for rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life, both here in the UK and around the world.
