Battersea dogs become super sidekicks: Meet the animals ready for their next adventure!

24 Jan 2025

This weekend, as London gears up for Megacon Live, one of the biggest celebrations of comic book and anime culture, Battersea is sharing details of three rescue dogs currently in their care, each with their own unique ‘superhero’ traits and looking for owners to go on adventures with. While thousands of fans embrace their own favourite characters, these dogs are ready to take inspiration from the heroes and heroines of Megacon and find the perfect human partner to help them soar to new heights.

Fern, Ron, and Pearl are all searching for their superhuman to join them in a lifetime of antics. Whether you’re after a playmate for outdoor excursions, a companion to curl up with at the end of a long day, or a loyal friend to share life’s ups and downs, one of these amazing dogs could be the perfect match.

Fern: The Agility Ace
Introducing Fern, a two-year-old spaniel with agility skills that will leave you in awe. With her quick reflexes and boundless energy, Fern is a natural athlete, making her the ideal sidekick for an active family. Fern excels in agility training, so if you’re looking to become a dynamic duo that’s ready to take on any obstacle course, Fern is your girl!

While Fern can be a little shy and anxious at first, she’s blossomed into a confident and playful companion. She’s searching for a family who will give her the time and space to settle in, and in return, she’ll reward you with endless love, affection, and fun-filled adventures. Once bonded, Fern will be your most loyal, energetic, and enthusiastic sidekick.

Ron: The Three-Legged Wonder
Next up is Ron, a three-year-old greyhound who’s got heart in spades. Despite losing a leg, Ron’s zest for life remains unshaken. His superpower? Lots of love and the ability to keep going no matter the odds. Ron may take life at a slightly slower pace these days, but he’s still a playful, affectionate boy who’s ready to be your companion through thick and thin.

Ron’s ideal sidekick would be someone patient and understanding, as he’s still getting used to life with three legs. But with his calm, loving nature and strong bond with his favourite humans, Ron will make a wonderful a family member. He may be a little unsure at times, but his gentle soul is just waiting for the right person to help him thrive.

Pearl: The Empathic Healer
Meet Pearl, a nine-year-old French Bulldog with a heart as big as her personality. Pearl’s superpower? She’s a master of comfort, with the ability to offer the perfect cuddle when you need it most. Whether you’re feeling under the weather, need a little extra warmth, or simply want someone to curl up with, Pearl is always ready to provide the ultimate snuggle. Her calming presence and unconditional affection make her the ideal sidekick for anyone who loves a quiet, loving companion by their side.

Pearl is looking for a home where she can feel safe and loved, and in return, she’ll offer you her deep, unwavering affection. Her sensitive nature means she needs a patient, understanding family who can help her adjust to her new surroundings, but once she’s settled, Pearl will be your constant, comforting companion, always there to provide emotional warmth and love.

Rebecca Verne, Centre Manager at Battersea, said: "At Battersea, we believe every dog deserves a second chance to find their perfect match, and these three remarkable dogs are ready to be someone's superhero sidekick.
