More about ACE

Ace is a lively and intelligent German Pointer who is looking for new owners who can take an active and consistent approach into his on-going training. It would be beneficial for new owners to have experience with Gundogs and are familiar with their breed traits and training requirements

Ace is a delightful dog who has been able to make friends with everyone he has met. He can be shy to begin with but if you take it slow with him (and come prepared with treats), you will have a new friend & he will lap up the attention that comes with it

Ace does have some behavioural area’s that will need consistent time & effort going into his training, including dog socialisation, spending time alone & resources. He will be looking for owners who would be willing to take on a project dog that will need plenty of training. Ace is eager to learn & is very workable, he has training in place to help in all aspects and has been making great progress

As a breed, Pointers do naturally have a strong prey drive. When seeing wildlife or movement, they may show their natural “point” behaviour which involves them raising a paw and “pointing” their muzzle at the object. It would be essential for Ace to learn a solid and reliable recall before being off-lead in a public setting

Ace will be looking to be the only dog in the household at this time as he can lack manners when interacting with other dogs. When playing, he can be rough in his playstyle which some dogs may not tolerate and he has struggled listening to a tell off when he is being too much

He would benefit from having some calm, walking friends who can act as a role model and continue his ongoing socialisation

Ace is a joy to train and will make a fantastic project dog. If you have the necessary experience & active lifestyle Ace needs and would like to know more about him please email bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk or call 01784 494 443.
