More about DASHA
Meet Dasha, located at our Old Windsor centre, the Shar Pei cross who needs plenty of confidence building in her new home. Despite being a Shar Pei cross, she is actually quite a small dog, weighing around 14 kgs currently.
Dasha has been spending some time in a foster home, and her foster carers have enjoyed seeing her come out of her shell. She is quite independent with people she doesn't know, but once she knows you're a friend she loves being stroked and will flop onto her side when she wants a fuss. She has been housetrained and settles well at home.
Dasha is anxious about busy places and it has taken her time to get brave enough to go for short walks. Traffic worries her, so she needs to live in a quieter location where she does not need to walk along main roads, but she is slowly growing in confidence.
With other dogs, Dasha will greet but then does not really want to interact further. We have seen that she is not happy with sharing attention or her space with another dog, so she needs to be the only dog in her new home. She'll be content to greet dogs out on walks and this should be kept up by her owners.
She is not very playful with toys but does enjoy short games with people - one of her favourites is chasing her foster carer around but it is quite short lived, as she's soon keen to go back to her bed for a snooze.
Being a Shar Pei cross, Dasha will have some breed-related medical needs that her new owners will need to be comfortable to take on.
She is a delightful dog who's personality is still beginning to show through. If you are interested in her please email bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk or call 01784 494443.
