More about FINNY

Finny is an excitable, friendly dog who loves to be with his favourite people. He is at our Old Windsor centre, if you are interested in him please email bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk.

Finny is looking for new owners who can manage a large adolescent dog as he can be very strong on lead, especially when he sees other dogs. We have worked to get Finny used to wearing a head halter on his walks which he is comfortable with and this has helped, alongside plenty of training to help him to show more interest in his handler when on walks. He is also going through his adolescence stage so will need owners who are happy to manage this and give him the guidance he needs.

Finny has been sociable and friendly with everyone he meets, but can be excitable and jump up, so he will require training and management around this. He will sit if asked so has shown some good boundaries. He has a goofy, playful character and you can’t help but smile at his antics, but he will also try and sit on your lap if he has a chance and enjoys just having a gentle fuss and some attention.

Finny would benefit from living away from a busy location as he can get overwhelmed by too much activity and noise. He’ll also need his own private garden, and this can be utilised for his training without distractions and give him the opportunity to relax.

At this stage of Finny’s life, he would benefit from being the only dog in the home. Finny has shown to love other dogs, so much so he can get frustrated and focused when seeing them and can forget his manners, making it hard to slow him down. We have put some training in place which new owners can continue in the home and he is showing great promise with this. Off lead he has shown some nice social play behaviours, but is still growing in confidence.
