More about INDY

Indy is a spirited dog with lots of character who is based at our Old Windsor centre.

In the home, Indy is gentle and settles well. She travels happily in the car and enjoyed greeting visitors, and would lean on her owners for a fuss, however when out on walks Indy needs some consistent further training. Although she appears confident, Indy is not always comfortable and has shown to be vocally reactive to people walking past her and other dogs. She also shows some chase behaviours, resulting in her barking and jumping towards them, with bikes, joggers and when she is open spaces she can show a high chase drive and look for things to chase.

Indy loves her food and this has been really useful for training. She is responsive to training and has proven eager to learn, but her owners will also need to be able to help her show positive behaviours by choosing quieter places to go for walks and not expecting her to cope with busy environments where there is lots going on. We have seen that she finds these sorts of places quite stressful and this can lead to her showing reactions.

With other dogs, Indy will happily walk with calmer dogs but can be worried of those who are too enthusiastic. She has at times become reactive and can bark and pull towards dogs although her training has helped with this. She is looking to live as the only pet in her new home as she does prefer her own space and due to her chase drive, she is not suitable to live with smaller pets.

Indy is looking for patient, experienced owners who are able to give her the support she needs. She has such an endearing nature and we're sure she'll love the home comforts and calmer walks with her new family.
