More about PIRATE

Meet our swashbuckling Pirate!

Pirate is an excitable young boy who loves his toys, particularly his tennis balls. He can be super affectionate with his bonded people. Pirate is a water lover, often splashing about in paddling pools in our paddocks. He is very lively and intelligent and has formal gun dog training so would be perfect for a new owner with experience in this or someone who is looking to get into this as an extracurricular activity for Pirate and themselves.

Pirate can be uncomfortable around new people and will often approach them before thinking about what he is doing, leading to some reactivity. We have seen this in his previous home and while in our care so is likely something new owners will need to continue to manage in a new home. Our rehoming team will be able to talk you through how we have been managing this on site, as well as the best way to continue managing this in the home and while out on walks.

A potential new home for Pirate will need to be experienced in managing reactive dogs previously and ideally have experience with trained gun dogs. Pirate’s new owners will need to be patient and prepared for a settling in period before he really builds a bond with you. A private secure garden and a home in a quieter location with access to rural walking routes is also important from a new home. Pirate could potentially live with older children who will respect his personal space and not overwhelm him too much. Pirate could also live with another dog, provided that they are steady and can act as a good role model for Pirate.

If you feel you can provide him with the home that he is seeking, and you are fully registered, then please do get in contact with bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk

Please note that due to the volume of enquiries we have been getting, we will only be able to respond to homes that we feel best meet all of Pirate’s needs.
