Donate through your businesses products or services to support Battersea.
Cause Related Marketing (or CRM) is when a business aligns to a charity’s cause to promote the sales of a product whilst raising vital funds for charity.
Usually this involves a business donating a percentage of the profits from the sale of a specific product or range to charity.
- CRM partnerships have been proven to have significant benefits for business sales and customer engagement:
- Purpose-driven marketing campaigns can increase sales by 50%
- 89% of customers will move to the competition if a brand is not committed to social responsibility
As one of the UK’s most recognisable charities, partners can gain a lot by partnering with Battersea in this way. Through our social media, website and TV presence, Battersea is widely known and liked nationally and with pet ownership growing, our large audience is growing too.
Waitrose
Battersea partnered with Waitrose with the launch of two exciting new products to mark the Royal Coronation on 6 May 2023.
Jewel, the Jack Russel cake, appeared in stores on the 12th, followed by the Jack Russel planter on the 26th. From 12th April to 31st May 2023, Waitrose donated £1 + VAT from every sale of their cake and planter sold. The money raised helped Battersea continue to be there for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.
Like Battersea, Waitrose believes rescue is best and they created these products inspired by Her Majesty The Queen Consort’s very own ex-Battersea Jack Russell’s: Beth and Bluebell.
Overall, the partnership was incredibly successful. The cakes sold out rapidly and Waitrose exceeded their target, despite the products only being live for a short amount of time. The partnership was well-received by the public and press, and we were able to reach 47 million people through industry and public press. The products and charitable support was also mentioned on ITV’s This Morning and Heart Radio.
"At the John Lewis Partnership, we're delighted to be supporting Battersea through sales of a Jack Russell cake and planter in our Waitrose shops during the period of the King's Coronation. The Queen Consort, Camilla, Patron of Battersea loves Jack Russels, and we know that our customers support the important work that Battersea does to be there for every dog and cat. Our support of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home sits within our purpose to work in partnership for a happier world."

Patch Plants
Battersea and Patch Plants partnered up in December 2024 to promote the importance of having pet-friendly plants in homes with animals. While houseplants can make a lovely addition to the home and help create a serene environment, we wanted to ensure that pet owners were aware that some common house plants are toxic to pets and pet-friendly alternatives are a great way to add greenery, without the worry.
Battersea named three of our new residents after Patch’s pet friendly plants – two lively kittens called Penny and Bertie and an apricot toy poodle we named Francisco. Together, we created engaging content, showing the three of them interacting with their namesakes and how plants can be safely enjoyed at home, while keeping pets happy and healthy.
During December, Patch also donated £1 + VAT to Battersea for every sale of the three plants – allowing us to continue to be there for every dog and cat who needs support. The campaign was a great success, with sales of the plants surpassing forecasts and strong engagement from their customers on social media.
"We’re so pleased to have been able to support Battersea with the help of three very cute residents and our charity plants, and to offer advice on how to choose pet-friendly plants for the home.”
– Hannah O’Donnell, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Patch
Penny, Bertie and Francisco are now happily settled in their new forever homes!
