Battersea’s key focus is supporting dogs and cats in our care, but our strategy also focuses on preventing animals needing to come to us and supporting pet owners around the UK and beyond. This involves our Global Programmes and Battersea Academy work, where we use our 160+ years of expertise to support other animal welfare organisations, our national campaigns, such as Pet Friendly Properties, and our services for pet owners, such as our Behaviour Advice Line.
Corporate partnerships can play a large role in supporting these strategic priorities and we regularly create partnerships which incorporate educational content or press moments to enable us to have a bigger impact on animals and their owners who need us, so we can be here for every dog and cat.
Pet Friendly Properties
Battersea and Mars Petcare have worked closely together on the issue of pets and housing, as housing issues are the second most common reason animals come to us. With new legislation aiming to help renters keep pets, we’ve been campaigning to ensure pet-friendly provisions are in the Renters Rights Bill, now in Parliament. Together, our well-known and respected brands command credibility and attention for one of our most significant challenges to overcome.
Dog Friendly Travel
In recent years Lithia (previously CarStore) joined forces with Battersea to empower dog-owning customers to find the right car for them. The activity included Battersea sharing expertise on how to create dog-friendly stores and hosting training sessions for Personal Advisors at the stores, so they can confidently manage visits from dogs and are aware of the legal requirements of travelling with dogs. Together, we also created content on how to safely and comfortably travel with a dog.
