Playful, affectionate, and full of energy, three-year-old Pug Hugo quickly won the hearts at our London centre, when his previous owner could sadly no longer care for him.
Always being on the move, his playful and affectionate nature made him a hit with his carers; he loved a good game of tug of war and happily swapped his toys in return for a bit of a fuss.
However, being from a brachycephalic breed, Hugo struggled with breathing issues. During his stay, he needed BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery.
Being such an active dog, it was crucial that he had this vital procedure to widen his airways and ease his breathing.
Thankfully, since his surgery his quality of life has significantly improved. Now, Hugo can zoom around and play with minimal difficulty.
