Ocean arrived at Battersea along with her young kittens when her previous owner was moving and unable to take the cats with them.
Friendly Ocean settled into the cattery quickly and soon showed that she was an affectionate cat who loved spending time with her favourite people, enjoying attention and gentle fuss, when not tending to her kittens.
Ocean and her four kittens, Salmon, Flounder, Angelfish and Princess Parrotfish spent some time in a dedicated Battersea foster home, to give them more space and get them used to a home environment, until the kittens were old enough to return to Battersea to be neutered and find homes of their own.
Once her kittens had flown the nest, Ocean was ready to find a new home but unfortunately, she suddenly became unwell with an upset stomach and badly ulcerated tongue. Ocean required treatment and a week-long stay in Battersea’s clinic wards, as she was very ill and was unable to eat.
Battersea vets suspected that Ocean had mistakenly licked something caustic, causing the ulceration on her tongue. Ocean was quickly placed on a feeding tube to ensure she was getting the vital nutrients she needed and to allow her tongue to heal.
Thanks to Battersea clinic team’s swift action, Ocean made a full recovery and has gone on to be rehomed to a loving home.
Ocean’s new owner Ceri said:
“She is settling in nicely, she's very clever. She likes my work from home days best as she gets to sit on my knee and join in calls!
Overall, her likes include chatting, dinner time, sitting in the sunshine, watching the world go by out of the window, cuddles, chattering at birds in the garden, watching nature programmes and chasing things around the house.
Thank you so much for helping me choose the wonderful Ocean, she's such a lovely cat and I couldn't imagine the house without her now.”
