Sweet yet sensitive Mindy found herself at Battersea when her owner could no longer afford to care for her.
Mindy was worried when she first arrived, but it didn't take her long to settle and make friends with her carers, even if she needed a little coaxing.
Battersea’s skilled clinic team discovered that Mindy had some abnormalities to the skin on her ears. As a cat with white ears, Mindy was at risk of skin cancer due to sun exposure.
Battersea’s vets swiftly took Mindy in for surgery. She emerged with an unusual but necessary new look, minus her ear tips, which were removed and sent for analysis.
As she recovered, Mindy remained her friendly and affectionate self, curling up on her carers’ laps and chasing her toys.
Mindy’s tests revealed that the skin on her ears had suffered sun damage which may lead to cancer, if left untreated. The removal of her ear tips had gone some way to prevent the progression, but when she found a new home, her family would need to ensure that Mindy didn’t go out in the sun, without applying some cat-friendly sunscreen on her ears.
Happily for Mindy, the perfect new home soon came along.
